There is no other way to dive into a new culture and learn about its people and country then when you live, eat, drink and breath like them. Easting food from the local markets while having a chitchat with the friendly vendor, taking those crazy chicken buses with the locals and staying in cheap hostels or houses often times directly owned by the people of the villages rather big nameless companies.

Caye CaulkerWe all dream about a far away destination where we could lie in a hammock all day and feel the warm ocean breath on our skin while sipping a Pina Colada...

Most of us only dream about doing these things and are happy to just go for a two week holiday throughout the year. While others want more. More sun, more fun, more adrenalin, more adventure. For these kind of adrenalin seekers and world travellers with a knack of far away hidden spots off the beaten tracks, this blog is made. Whether it is hiking through the jungles of Borneo or diving the Caribbean, trying to eat raw shark penis in Taiwan or celebrating Semana Santa in Nicaragua, this blog will try and highlight those trips and as well as giving you help on what to take and where to go and what to do. Mahalo.

tigerTravelling for just a few weeks in a country will leave you wanting more. While travelling gives you just a tiny grasp of the culture, lifestyle and its people, a working holiday will change your life and broaden your horizon. You will make tons of new friends, learn heaps about the culture and pick up cool sports such surfing and footy. So there is no wonder that more and more kids go for a year long break as working holiday makers and literally flood the shores of Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the likes.

For most Western Europeans, getting a working holiday visa is really easy, you just go online to the department of immigration and fill out the necessary forms. With a few days, you should get your visa granted. In most cases you will get an electronically issued visa which means that you will just need to show your passport when arriving in the country and automatically have your visa issued.

For the preparation for your ultimate adventure, just go onto the check list section of this blog and have a read through on different visa options, passports, flights, health and basic preparations on what to take with you and what to do when arriving in your new country.

Alternatively, you could also go for a working holiday program which is offered by many organisations. They often assist you with all queries and organise your visas, flights, accommodations of the first few days at your chosen city for you. They also offer assistance with direct contact persons in the country of your destination which might be really helpful for young first time travellers who are overwhelmed by going to the pother end of the world - often not even being able to speak the language.

Whatever you will choose and whichever country you will go to, doing a Working Holiday abroad will be one the best years of your lives.
